Clash of Clans Gameplay: The Simple Trick That Helped Me Crush Invisibility Tower Bases

If you’re anything like me, invisibility towers have probably ruined more than a few of your Clash of Clans attacks. I was constantly losing my Royal Champion (RC) to these tricky defenses, causing my carefully planned assaults to collapse. After weeks of frustration, I made a few changes to my strategy—and the results have been game-changing.

In this article, I’ll break down my new approach, explain why it works, and share a full attack strategy video so you can use these tips in your own gameplay.

The Problem with Invisibility Towers

Invisibility towers have become a staple of high-level base designs, especially near Town Halls or key defensive clusters. The moment your RC or main troops get close, the invisibility effect kicks in, causing troops to ignore critical targets and scatter. I found this particularly brutal when my RC would charge into a base, get confused by the invisibility effect, and run off, leaving high-value defenses untouched.

The Change That Fixed Everything

To solve this, I made three changes to my attack strategy:

  1. Added the Ice Block.
This was the real game-changer. By freezing the RC in place while the invisibility timer wore off, I kept her locked onto her target without losing control of my attack.
  2. Experimented with the Ice Hound.
While the Ice Hound is powerful, I haven’t fully mastered it yet. I initially tried pairing it with my army to counter air defenses, but I found the Ice Block far more consistent for dealing with invisibility towers.
  3. Tweaked my Warden’s abilities.
Timing the Warden’s ability to protect my main force, especially when pushing into core defenses, gave my troops the extra seconds they needed to demolish key areas.

Step-by-Step Attack Breakdown

Here’s a quick version of my attack sequence:

  • Deploy the Queen and a few troops to funnel.
  • Send in dragons and the Warden through the core.
  • Use the Ice Block to freeze the RC when the invis tower activates.
  • Wait 5–7 seconds for invisibility to expire, then let the RC clean up.
  • Finish with siege machines or backup troops to mop up defenses.

This timing gives the RC a clear path to destroy the invisibility tower and surrounding defenses, which often include high DPS structures like Infernos or Scattershots.

In the video below, I show the exact attack that helped me crush an invis tower base using this strategy. I also talk about what didn’t work—like my experiments with the Ice Hound—and what I plan to try next, like swapping Siege Barracks for the Flame Flinger.

Final Thoughts

This strategy is simple yet incredibly effective once you get the timing down. If invisibility towers have been giving you trouble, try incorporating the Ice Block into your attacks. It might just be the missing piece you need for consistent 3-stars.
